Ladan Tofighi is an internationally recognized Iranian artist.

She relocated to Milan, Italy in 2012 in pursuit of a fresh perspective in which to express her artistic vision.

Her childhood playground was spent in the metropolis which is Tehran, framed by the view from her bedroom window of the dormant volcano, Damavand. With this view she was in awe of the spectacular backdrop and also had a sense of wonder at the latent yet silent power that lay within nature.

Perhaps the dormancy of the volcano, coupled with her own internal constraint, inspired Ladan to explode with inner creativity; taking advantage of each moment and using whatever medium available to express her vision and passion.

Ladan attempts to retain a childlike playfulness in her work but is still acutely aware of the powerful social, political and cultural impact that art can have in a wider societal context.


“I hope that images that I represent are a force for good and may engender change one person, one mind at a time. I always look for new ways to express myself and, hopefully, I can help to encourage others to view aspects or the world from a different perspective”
